Laser levels are a simple tool that have become a toolbelt essential. They make it much faster and easier to find alignment for a wide range of construction tasks. However, laser levels range in price anywhere from 20 bucks to thousands of dollars — a range like that shows there is a lot to talk about in terms of quality and features, and which laser level should a professional use? The new Bosch GLL100-42GL 100 ft. Cross-Line Laser Level was built to provide better accuracy and visibility, and tough enough to survive accidental drops and falls.

We are exploring all of these features and more today, as well as how it compares to other cross-line lasers on the market.

Bosch 100 ft. Laser Level Review

The Bosch 100 ft. Cross-Line Laser Level Kit is designed for professionals, meaning it prioritizes what trade professionals need most in a laser level, and it’s built to withstand jobsite conditions and workday demands. These are the features that stand out the most to us when considering the priorities of trade professionals.

Green-beam Technology

Green beams are four times brighter than industry-standard red beams. The result is literally easier sight lines and less errors from beams with an accuracy within 1/8 in. at 30 ft. and up to 100 ft. Built-in VisiMax Technology further enhances visibility by monitoring tool temperature and power consumption, allowing this Bosch laser level to adjust brightness to the environment, optimizing its visibility. This auto-adjusting also adds to the tools overall lifespan by preventing overheating.

Smart Pendulum System and Mounting Versatility

The Smart Pendulum System auto-levels the laser to display accurate beams in any setting. It also signals for out-of-level conditions to prevent inaccurate setup, or if adjustments are needed due to a change in environment.

And since you can’t always predict where and how you may need to position your level. Bosch offers serveral options with this cross-line laser level. There is an integrated ¼ in. threading mount for tripod attachment, a strong magnetic LB10 L-Bracket, and a DK10 ceiling clip. All of these options coupled with the Smart Pendulum System ensure you get accurate readings where you need them.

IP65-rated Construction & “Roll Cage” Design

Made with a heavy-duty housing that is safe from high-impact drops, falls, kicks, or general jobsite damage. It also has a dust-tight and waterproof construction to prevent water and debris from getting in and corrupting the laser level.

The all-around “roll cage”-inspired rubber overmold further protects the laser level from high-impact incidents.

8-Hour Operating Time & Power Flexibility

When paired with a fully charged Bosch 3.7V Li-ion 3.0 Ah battery users can expect a full-day 8-hour battery life. The included USB-C charging cord offers continuous use even while it provides fast charging of the Li-ion battery. And the GLL100-42GL can also utilize standard AA batteries if needed.

You can purchase the new Bosch GLL100-42GL 100 ft. Cross-Line Laser Level Kit for $259 from The Home Depot. At The Home Depot you can also find cross-line laser levels from DEWALT, Milwaukee, Leica, among other brands. For $259 the GLL100-42GL prices right in the middle when compared to similar laser levels. However, for only $40 more than the DEWALT (tool only). The Home Depot kit includes four AA batteries, an L-bracket, ceiling clips, and a hard carry case. Then the Milwaukee basic kit for $10 more includes an L-bracket, different accessories, but no ceiling clip.

Bosch offers a One (1) Year Measuring Tool Limited Warranty, plus an additional year of warranty coverage if you register your tool within eight weeks of purchase.

All-in-all, the whole Bosch 100 ft. Cross-Line Laser Level kit is fairly priced when compared to similar kits. It may come down to what you use your laser level for, but the Bosch kit at its price has more applications than the Milwaukee kit.

They are made of gut-healthy collagen, they last awhile, are great for teeth cleaning, and a wonderful chewing activity. They are a little pricey for an everyday treat but have been great when we’re gone longer than normal and he needs something to chew on for his anxiety.

Shared Features

As you can see, each Eminence Series grill is impressive on its own with many of its own unique features. But there are a few overall qualities that each grill shares.

Eminence Gas Grill Exterior

Monument Grills says that its Eminence Series “adopts a whole new mold with half of the parts retooled” resulting in a new flagship series of grills that are precisely constructed for better and accuracy and performance.

While each grill body has its own unique design, a shared exterior feature is the integrated full sear stainless steel and die-cast aluminum steel side panel. Not only does this look great with its modern finish, but it results in better heat retention in the grill and warm storage, and improves durability. The double doors have also been reinforced for better load-bearing with a smooth and soft-close operation. And a grill can’t be great without a great base. The metal-coated locking wheels provide better load-bearing and maneuverability.

Eminence Gas Grill Performance

Yeah, these grills look nice, but what can you expect once you fire them up?

All-around these grills are heating faster and higher, hitting up to 700°F within 10 minutes and a range of 60,000-89,000 BTUs across the three grills. This is about a 100°F increase in heat, 10 minute faster cooking time, and an improved heat retention and distribution across grates.

Eminence Smart Grill Tech

The E405 and E605 are both equipped with a reimagined 3rd generation LED touch screen that is easier and more intuitive to use. These smart grills are also enhanced with Bluetooth and App-sync so you can monitor and adjust grilling temperature, set timers and more up to 65 ft. away from your grill, and allowing you be a part of the party again.

“What is a palm router?”

A palm router, also known as an edge or trim router, is a woodworking tool that can cut and level wood. It’s a lightweight tool that is capable of plunge cuts, cutting down or directly into a piece of wood, and intricate cuts. Bosch 18V Palm Router Features

Like most tools, there are a ton of different palm routers on the market with tons of different price points. To speed things up we are just going to highlight the key features that excite us the most about the Bosch 18V Brushless Colt Palm Router Kit.

Best Power-to-Size Ratio

This Bosch palm router measures 6.6 in. X 3.7 in. and weighs less than five pounds with the battery, yet it produces up to 30k RPM and has a 1.39 max horsepower. The router also has “Constant Response Circuitry” also monitors and maintains the speed of the palm router. You are getting a tremendous amount of consistent, steady power in a smaller and easy to control tool.

Compact & Ergonomic

It fits comfortably in your palm and all around is a great size and weight for maintaining optimal control. Bosch took this a step further with an ergonomic handle with a rubber overmold, and finger support pockets. This allows you to have a higher or lower grip on the router. So, you can adjust your grip based on the project. All of the buttons and controls are located in easy-to-access and intuitive locations, such as when adjusting the speed and cut depth.

Rough & Fine Depth Adjustment

Users can make precise cuts in 1/64 in. increments, an exceptional amount of control. Also, this router has a max cut depth of 1-11/32 inches or about 1.34 inches. This is a strong range for a simple router.

Safety Features

The Bosch 18V Palm Router has quite a few safety features. Things like the ergonomic design fall into both user experience and safety, but we’re just going to focus on safety features:

Currently, the Bosch 18V Brushless Colt Palm Router Kit is available for $399 on Amazon. There isn’t one other exact kit to compare, as other routers are either sold individually or are corded, and I didn’t find another kit as comprehensive as this one. So while there is quite a range of prices, I think this router kit from Bosch is fairly priced when you consider you are getting a tool, battery, charger, carrying case, and seven additional accessories.

Bosch cordless power tools are also covered by a 5-year limited warranty.

There was a good reason we waited a few weeks before talking about the new RYOBI app. The app launched on Thursday, January 9, and by the end of the weekend the app had received its fair amount of negative reviews.

Among the complaints, most negative reviews revolved around issues with registering RYOBI tools. Some people were unable to do so on the app. Others had success registering them online but the tools wouldn’t display in their browser, which led them to re-register the tools and caused those people to have duplicates in their RYOBI app toolboxes.

Ways RYOBI Can Improve the RYOBI App

You can read for yourself, the RYOBI app had a shaky start, but it seems RYOBI got its act together and tackled the main bugs. However, a lot of the original negative reviews are still online. Some of these first users of the RYOBI app may not have moved past their negative experiences. Also, it’s uncertain how many of these issues were caused by the app itself or user error. Either way, we came up with a few ways RYOBI can improve its app:

Offer in-store registering and troubleshooting at The Home Depot, RYOBI’s exclusive retailer.
Allow users to turn off data collection.
Continue to monitor and survey for common app issues.

Also, considering how negative the initial app launch was, RYOBI may want to figure out some sort of outreach program. Whether this is tech support through the Home Depot, or a small discount towards a future RYOBI purchase for anyone who submitted a negative review within 30 days of the app’s launch.

These are just some ways that RYOBI can improve its app for users.

“Real Life Lego” — 3D-printed building blocks pave way for faster and cheaper infrastructure

Hurricane Helene and the LA fires are just two natural disasters that completely decimated and displaced whole communities on opposite ends of the U.S. and only within four months of each other. With over 200,000 people without homes on top of a national housing shortage, the need for quick and affordable shelter and housing is more obvious than ever. Thankfully, researchers from the University of Nevada are developing 3D-printed modular building blocks to quickly develop buildings and bridges.

Currently, this project is being used to develop emergency bridges and naval bases in combat zones for the U.S. Army, with plans to shift to disaster relief. If all goes well, these 3D-printed construction materials offer many potential benefits to the housing market.

Advanced AI software, drones, and robots become our construction assistants

“Machine learning” has been around since the 1950’s when a 5-ton IBM was able to differentiate between multiple kinds of timecards. However, that first milestone looks primitive compared to modern artificial intelligence (AI) that can develop portraits, whole instruction manuals, and even assemble recipes based on the leftovers in your fridge. Now AI has made its way to the jobsite in multiple ways.

Power tools are now integrated with AI to help manage tools and worker permissions, and can even “sense” potential dangers like kickback and deploy auto-shutoff to improve worker safety. Drones are used to monitor jobsites and access conditions while keeping humans safely planted on the ground. AI-enhanced cybersecurity software is constantly checking for and adapting to beat new malware and phishing attacks.

Predictions for the tools of tomorrow

DIY Socket Set Organization

Pinterest and the internet in general are home to tons of great DIY tool storage solutions. In October, Bosch released its lineup of 2025 Bosch power tools and equipment that included over 30 new tools. While the majority of this release focuses on Bosch’s 18V tools, it’s the three new utility knives that offer U.S. consumers something totally new. Until now, Bosch utility knives have been sold exclusively in Europe, now there are three models available in the U.S.: a folding knife, a retractable knife, and a snap-off utility knife. Today we’re opening up the Bosch 3-piece Utility Knife Set to see if they’re worth the wait.

“What is a utility knife used for?”

A utility knife is a toolbelt staple across various trades thanks to its multiple uses. It’s often associated with drywall installation or wall repair, but it’s used by electricians to strip wire, and by carpenters to score shims for window installation. A utility knife needs to be sharp, stable, and safe. Bosch got these down. First, the lightweight, compact, and ergonomic designs, complete with rubber overmolds, make these utility knives easy to maneuver. Utility knife blades are “razor sharp” so accidental cuts are a safety concern. This risk is lowered by creating knives with secure grips providing better control.

Now that we are done celebrating the new year we can turn our attention to something we are excited about – tax season. Just kidding. I don’t actually “enjoy” tax season. However, I do enjoy getting as many tax credits as possible, and I like helping out good charities and organizations. Today I’m sharing with you five different charities and places to donate tools.

These charities and organizations that you can donate your old tools to have locations all across the United States. I also share a bit about each organization, so you can pick an organization close by that aligns with your values.

Charities & Places to Donate Tools to

All the charities listed below have long-standing records of direct impact in the communities they serve. As a bonus, most of these organizations can be found in all 50 states for you to easily donate your tools.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity (Habitat) may be the biggest organization with the most direct impact that you can donate tools to. Habitat for Humanity has locations in all 50 states and is most known for low-cost home construction for low-income families and individuals. The tools you donate could literally help build someone a home.

Most people also know about Habitat for Humanity ReStore centers. These stores resell furniture and home renovation supplies to the public to help fund the organization. Because of its multiple services Habitat for Humanity accepts a long list of donations and ways to get involved.

Habitat for Humanity accepts the following donations:

Hand tools, power tools, building equipment, and building materials.
Old appliances, home decor, and fixtures.
Labor – join a local Habitat chapter and donate your time to help with home construction, home repair, and more!

No Habitat Restore by you? Reach out to a local Habitat chapter. Some chapters take donations to use in upcoming builds or sell third-party to support their organization. Either way, you should still receive tax credit for your donation.

Goodwill Industries

Goodwill is a popular secondhand clothing and goods store that has been around since the 1950’s. Most people may see it as a place to save on mostly clothing and home goods. However, Goodwill Industries offers a variety of services and programs, such as employment opportunities and job training to at-risk youth and seniors, youth mentoring, and multiple programs to fight poverty.

Goodwill stores help fund these programs and opportunities and your donations keep these stores alive.

The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is one of the oldest charitable organizations around. This global organization focuses on ending homelessness and drug addiction for people of all ages, and has around 8,000 locations in the U.S.

Your donations help fund its programs. The Salvation Army actually takes more donations in than some other donation centers and accepts tools of all kinds.

PickupPlease

It’s great helping out an organization you believe in, but what if you could help out multiple organizations? PickupPlease is a donation pickup program that supports a variety of charities including Vietnam Veterans of America, Veterans Voice of America, The Special Olympics of Texas, and Teen Challenge of Southern California.

PickupPlease currently has locations in 15 states across the U.S. and accepts tools of any kind as long as the driver can load and unload the items alone.

Okay, we’re going to break the rules because this isn’t a single organization. But tool libraries are a great way to provide affordable access to tools to a wide variety of people. A lot of major cities have their tool library/sharing program, along with some larger communities. Local Tools is a great resource for finding a tool library near you.

There are a lot of tool libraries out there, but these are a few we want to mention:

Each tool library program will operate differently. So, just make sure you understand the program before you join.

Tool libraries love tool donations and many are nonprofits that offer tax credit in exchange for your donation. Again, just check with your local tool library before donating.

How to Recycle Tools for Tax Credit

Tool donation isn’t the only way to get a credit. Your tools are made out of precious metals and materials that many people want to keep out of landfills. Tool recycling is a great alternative if you don’t have any of the above organizations near you, or your tools are not in working condition.

Again, this can help you find a smaller organization that didn’t make our list of national charities to donate tools and more to. Earth911 also helps you find how to responsibly recycle your items. We dive into each of the main features of the SKIL PWR CORE 40 40V 300W Power Inverter. After reviewing we find this new SKIL product to be a versatile and convenient power inverter.

Watt Power

Experience either 300 watts of continuous power or up to 500 watts of peak power. The power is supplied via a rechargeable 40V SKIL PWR CORE battery. These batteries range from 4.0-6.0Ah and can be recharged in as little as 15 minutes.

Outlets
